The First Aid Responder (FAR) Refresher Course is designed for certified Occupational First Aiders who wish to update their skills and stay informed on the latest first aid practices, particularly those relevant to workplace injuries. Completing this refresher course every two years ensures participants maintain their certification and continue to meet workplace safety requirements.

Course Aim

This course aims to renew and enhance participants’ knowledge and practical skills, enabling them to provide effective first aid in the workplace and respond confidently to medical emergencies.

Course Delivery

The training is delivered by a Health & Safety Authority (HSA) approved tutor through a combination of:
PowerPoint presentations and discussions
Instructional videos
Hands-on practical learning

Good command of the English language

Course Content

Participants will refresh their knowledge in key areas, including: First Aid in the Workplace – Understanding first aid roles and responsibilities
Patient Assessment – How to evaluate an injured or ill person
Respiratory Emergencies – Recognizing and managing breathing difficulties
Cardiac First Response – CPR, defibrillator (AED) use, and heart attack response
Wounds & Bleeding – Treating cuts, wounds, and severe bleeding
Common Medical Emergencies – Managing diabetes, seizures, asthma, poisoning, and fainting
Injury Management & Shock – Treating fractures, sprains, and shock symptoms
Care of an Unconscious Patient – Recovery position and ongoing monitoring
Burns, Scalds & Electrical Injuries – Proper first aid treatment for burns and electrical shocks
Hypothermia & Hyperthermia – Managing extreme temperature-related conditions
Information Management & Communication – Proper documentation and emergency communication

Accreditation & Certification

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a First Aid Response Certificate approved by the Health & Safety Authority (HSA). This certification is valid for two years from the date of issue.

This refresher course ensures first aiders remain fully certified, competent, and prepared to respond to workplace medical emergencies.
